Your PDFs stay on your device

The editor runs inside your browser. It uses PDFium, the PDF engine of Google Chrome, compiled to WebAssembly, in a separate worker on your device. Opening, editing, organizing, merging and saving all happen there. Your files, their names and their contents are not uploaded to ScoreUs or to anyone else.

The program files of the editor are downloaded from this site the first time you open a PDF; after that your browser keeps them.

Text recognition (OCR)

OCR also runs in your browser, with the open-source Tesseract engine. The first time, your browser downloads the engine and the language data from this site. The picture of the page and the recognized text never leave your device.

Conversion to Word or PowerPoint

The online editor does not convert PDFs to Word or PowerPoint at the moment, so there is nothing to upload for that either.

What the website counts

This site counts a few things as anonymous daily totals: which pages are viewed and in which language, how often each PDF tool is clicked, started, finished or fails, which links to other ScoreUs products are clicked, and how often the desktop app is downloaded or a video is played. Each count is only a number per day. We use no cookies and no identifiers, do not store your IP address, and never count anything about your documents: no file names, content or results. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is counted. The daily totals are deleted after about 25 months.

The website never counts or reads anything about your documents, and product suggestions on this site never depend on your files.

Buying the desktop app

Payments are made on Stripe's secure checkout page; ScoreUs never sees your card details. To deliver your license we keep your email address, the Stripe checkout reference, the license key, the purchase date and an anonymous ID for each of up to two activated computers. These records are kept apart from the website statistics and are only available to ScoreUs.

How the site is protected

The site is served only over HTTPS. A strict Content Security Policy lets pages load scripts from this site only, so no advertising, social media or tracking scripts can run. License files are signed, so they cannot be forged.

Services involved

Microsoft Azure (hosting, license records and statistics), Stripe (payments, receipts and invoices) and Microsoft 365 (license emails). There are no advertising networks.

What we cannot promise

No website can collect nothing at all: like every website, the hosting servers receive technical information such as your IP address and the page requested in order to deliver it. For the full details, see the Privacy Policy.
